Couture Gets TKO’d By Brock Lesnar At UFC 91

Lesnar threw a looping meat hook that caught Randy sort of on the back of the head similar to the way Serra caught GSP in their first round. In both fights those standing shots to the back of the head stunned the fighter the same way, before being finished with the final shots from looming overhead the downed opponent. It was not fault of Serra then and wasn’t of Brock’s this time either.
If Randy danced more and tried to drag it into the later rounds, he may have had a better shot as the punches would have been considerably slower. Both of Lesnar’s eyes were damaged and Randy took nearly all of his abuse after being stunned.
Lesnar proved to be too much beef.
He will be back. I’d love to see Couture vs Noguiera.

Well, how a bout Courture, Anderson Silva at 205 for a legit pound for pound claim. Randy done well and brought no shame to his rep by loosing to Brock. Lets face it, the heavy weight division has gotten bigger while Couture hasnt. I dont see any one on the UFC’s horizon who can withstand five rounds with Lesner pounding and leaning on them. If Couture could not take him down then who in the Hwt div can….Congo? Gonzaga? Mir? or Nog?. If Brock game plans his fights so to take advantage of his oponents or more realisticaly right now…to prevent his oponents from taking advantage of him…who can beat him. He will stand and bang with Mir or Nog, and if it goes down he will run a half nelson and get side control and throw that fast hammer strike. He will take Congo or any other striker down at will and now one has the wrestling to take him down…or keep him there. You cant take him into the deep water because he will control the clinch and the positioning…maybe some one will cut him early and he will gas enough to get caught with a nice strike or a sub…but not likely. No, I think Brock will have that belt for awhile…and if Fedor wants it, he better get it soon, imagine Brock after another six or seven fights three years from now, when he actually gets good. Now that is scarry.

Randy’s standup was never amazing and I think that is the problem. Anyone who can stand and strike, but who can also get up off the ground should be able to beat Lesnar.
If Kongo was able to get off his back and had some wrestling ability then I think Kongo could beat Lesnar.
Gonzaga might have a shot actually.
