Fields Dynamite K-1 DREAM New Year’s Eve Predictions
Posted on 31. Dec, 2009 by moneybags.
MMA Rules Fights
Alistair Overeem (31-11-0) vs Kazuyuki Fujita (15-8-0)
No chance. Fujita will be a punching bag for Overeem.
Minowaman (43-30-8) vs Sokoudjou (7-5-0)
DREAM Super Hulk Grand Prix 2009 Final
I’m going to be shocked if Sokoudjou loses this one. Minowaman has literally built his reputation on taking on bigger fighters, but who has he beaten really?
Gary Goodridge vs Gegard Mousasi
No chance, for Goodridge here. If the fight stands which is where Goodridge will have his best chance of winning, Mousasi will pick him apart.
Melvin Manhoef vs Kazuo Misaki
I think this fight could end up with Misaki winning. Manhoef is susceptible due to his overcommitment to “hay maker.”
Tatsuya Kawajiri (25-5-2) vs Kazunori Yokota (11-2-3)
Kawajiri here seems like where I lean.
Shinya Aoki (22-4-0) vs Mizuto Hirota (12-3-1)
Aoki.
Hidehiko Yoshida (8-7-1) vs Satoshi Ishii (0-0-0)
Two Olympic gold medal judokas with Yoshida having significant mma DREAM experience.
Norifumi “KID” Yamamoto (17-2-0) vs Masanori Kanehara (15-7-5)
Kanehara is walking into trouble in this fight. Kanehara won a close match against Omigawa, while Yamamoto is coming off an upset loss to Joe Warren, which I called.
Hayato “Mach” Sakurai (35-9-2) vs Akihiro Gono (30-15-7)
Great fight here. One I am most excited about.
Katsuyori Shibata (4-6-1) vs Hiroshi Izumi (0-1-0)
Avoid.
Hiroyuki Takaya (12-7-1) vs Michihiro Omigawa (8-8-1)
Avoid.
Hideo Tokoro (25-21-1) vs Marlon Sandro (15-1-0)
Tokoro has been in some battles and the guy never loses his lungs. He will need it against the hard hitting Sandro. Sandro.
K-1 Rules Fights
Masato vs Andy Souwer
Andy Souwer has beaten Masato before. I really like Souwer’s fighting style.
I like Souwer to win.
Yosuke Nishijima vs Ray Sefo
Sefo.
Hiroya vs Masaaki Noiri
Avoid.
Shota Shimada vs Katsuki Ishida
Avoid.
Ryuya Kusakabe vs Tsukasa Fuji
Avoid.

DREAM 12 Fight Card Predictions
Posted on 23. Oct, 2009 by moneybags.
DREAM 12 takes place Oct 25 2009 @ 2am est Live from Japan and you can watch it free on HDNET.
Alistair Overeem vs James Thompson
Many MMA fighters are smaller than they appear on tv. Not Alistair. The guy is big, I’ve stood next to him.
Plus he has James Thompson outclassed in this match.
Alistair at any odds
Zelg Galesic vs Kazushi Sakuraba
The Gracie killer, Sakuraba is just a little old now. Zelg recently lost to Jacare, and technically you could say that Zelg would be susceptible to another sub from Sakuraba.
Zelg Galesic is a mild favorite in this fight and that is probably due Sakuraba’s age and wear and tear.
I have to go with Galesic.
Marius Zaromskis vs Myeon Ho Bae
Zaromskis is coming off his last 2 fights where he ko’d two different guys in the same night with the same combo. I’m not familiar with Ho Bae, but Zaromskis is pretty bad as in bad ass.
I like Zaromskis to win even at -500…WHOA
Yoshiro Maeda vs Chase Beebe
Beebe is -140 favorite and that seems about right. This one could go either way. Beebe’s strong top game could still put him at a loss if Maeda rips off sub attempt after sub attempt. I could take Maeda here as a dog.
Eddie Alvarez vs Katsunori Kikuno
This is going to be a good one. Both fighters always bring excitement to the ring. However, I don’t think Kikuno has faced a fighter like Alvarez.
Alvarez favored at -500 and I think its fair, but the fight could end up being better than these odds say.
Some books don’t carry odds, but Sportsbook.com does carry odds for these fights.

DREAM 10 Welterweight Grand Prix Predictions
Posted on 18. Jul, 2009 by moneybags.
Jason High vs André Galvão
I have to think Jason High brings nothing different that John Alessio did in his last loss where Galvao subbed Alessio quite easily and impressively in the first.
Hayato Sakurai vs Marius Zaromskis
I don’t see Sakurai losing this one.
Final Bout
I would be interested in taking the younger Galvão in the underdog spot here. Its a little odd to take him here (Assuming they both make it to the final), but i think Sakurai could have a longer 1st fight and thus be more tired and fall prey to the slick subs of Andre.
Vitor Ribeiro vs Shinya Aoki
If you like striking this isn’t going to be the fight to watch. This will be ultra technical high level jiu-jitsu through and through. I give the edge to Ribeiro in this fight just on the striking end and maybe he can pull off a win with this one. Depending on how the odds shape up, take the dog no matter who it is, because this fight is about as even as it gets.
Paulo Filho vs Melvin Manhoef
I lean heavily towards Filho. A new organization, coming off a loss, Manhoef sucks on the ground, Filho is great on the ground. Filho.
Dong Sik Yoon vs Jesse Taylor
Taylor in the dark.

Olympia Dream 9
Posted on 25. May, 2009 by moneybags.
Olympia Dream 9 and the Super Hulk Tournament is tonight or tomorrow whichever way you want to look at it, 5am EST live from Japan on HDNET. Man have I said how much I love that HDNET exists?
Tatsuya Kawajiri vs Jz Cavalcante
JZ will likely be able to T off on Kawajiri eventually taking the decision. This is one of the best fights on the card.
Jason Miller vs Ronaldo Souza
Best fight of the night. I love watching Mayhem fight, but I think he will have his hands full with Jacare. This is a rematch from last year for these two where Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza took the decision. I think its likely it will go that way again.
Joe Warren vs Norifumi “Kid Dynamite” Yamamoto
Honestly the odds heavily favor Yamamoto here which makes this one of the best dog bets. Warren is NO SLOUCH. He handled Chase Bebe a former WEC champion. Bebe a solid wrestler who basically had a classic Matt Hughes style just wore people out with top control and TKO elbows. Well Joe Warren, an accomplished wrestler himself, really won in impressive fashion. Yes Bebe lost from a cut, but Warren was wining that fight.
Nobody out there believes that he could win this fight, but from what I’ve seen he has the potential to and with the odds structure I think its worthwhile and therefore I’m picking Joe Warren – yeh you heard it here first.
Abel Cullum vs Hideo Tokoro
Cullum looked good in his last fight. I like Abel to win.
Ikuhisa Minowa vs Bob Sapp
On Inside MMA, Bas said, Minowa by ankle lock. I definitely could see that scenario as well.
Jan Nortje vs Rameau Sokoudjou
Nortje will be a punching bag for Sokoudjou.
Mark Hunt vs Gegard Mousasi
Very interesting matchup which could possibly be a Mousasi hype ender. However, I’ll curb my enthusiasm to pick Hunt here and go with Mousasi.
Jose Canseco vs Hong Man Choi
I gotta go with Choi.

DREAM 8 Predictions
Posted on 04. Apr, 2009 by moneybags.
Takes place April 5th 2009. See it on HDNET. I’ll post some DREAM 8 odds and DREAM 8 predictions below.
Shinya Aoki vs Hayato “Mach” Sakurai
Sakurai had a bye in this tournament as he was too good to fight in the opening round. Shinya won his opener and now they will meet in the second bracket. I think Sakurai’s toughness and striking is going to be too much for Aoki. Similar to Joachim Hansen was and similar to how JZ was before getting DQ’d in their last fight. Its no secret that I like the way Aoki fights and works to get the submission and how he presses his singular style so well. However, Sakurai will be very tough to submit. I like Sakurai to win this via decision.
Bodog has Aoki @ -210 and Sakurai @ +170
Andre Galvao vs John Alessio
You take a guy from Wanderlai’s fight team and you put him in the ring against a grizzled veteran who has been in it with the best in the business and you got yourself a quality chance of a victory for Alessio.
Bodog has Alessio @ +110 and Galvao @ -140
Sergei Kharitonov vs Jeff Monson
Karitonov is too big. I think Tim Sylvia, Monson fight. Monson was beaten up on the feet. Karitonov doesn’t have the jab of Sylvia, but he’s got massive power. I’ll you what, I’m going to be blown away if Monson wins this one.
Bodog has Kharitonov @ -260 and Monson @ +200
Andrews Nakahara vs Shungo Oyama
Nakahara is an up and coming kid. He was dealt a shitty hand his first fight by taking on Sakuraba which he lost. Nakahara showed he has great striking from his Karate background. Oyama has fallen easily in the past, and Nakahara is an up and comer. I like Nakahara to win.
Bodog has Nakahara @ -240 and Oyama @ +190

K1 Dynamite Picks
Posted on 30. Dec, 2008 by moneybags.
Takes place December 31st 2008 New Years Eve Day. Starts 3pm Japan time or 5am EST.
Eddie Alvarez vs Shinya Aoki DREAM Rules
Aoki who is always fun to watch, has had trouble against top notch strikers. Alvarez is one of the best. I always worry about foreign fighters going to Japan and dealing with the time change. If it goes the distance Aoki has a strong chance to win since he goes for 30 subs per match and they score points for submission attempts over there in J-land.
My brain still says Alvarez will win.
Joachim Hansen vs Gesias “JZ” Calvacante DREAM Rules
I’m going with JZ as the recently hot Hansen will sputter and JZ will bounce back.
Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Kiyoshi Tamura DREAM Rules
A great Japanese veteran matchup. This is like Hulk Hogan vs the Iron Sheik right here. This could be one of the most exciting fights on the card as I could see many sub attempts with lots of narrow escapes.
I’ll go with the legend Sakuraba.
Melvin Manhoef vs Mark Hunt DREAM Rules
I like Manhoef here under MMA rules even on short notice.
Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic vs Hong Man Choi DREAM Rules
The Croatian will bounce back from an embarrassing nutfest fight vs Alastair Overeem and chop the Korean giant down.
Alistair Overeem vs. Badr Hari K-1 Rules
The always technical Badr Hari will succumb to the great power of Overeem.
Bob Sapp vs Kinniku Mantaro K-1 Rules
The always interesting sideshow meat hook winging, Bob Sapp, will get a victory here. If the guy just jabs he will almost guarantee a win.
Sammy Schilt vs Mighty Mo DREAM Rules
Schilt under K-1 rules I’d take this easily. Now I’m not so sure. Pass.
Check the MMA tab on the right side for odds on these fights.

Dream 6 Predictions
Posted on 22. Sep, 2008 by moneybags.
I totally forgot about Dream 6 event happening tonight in a few hours live on HDNET!
Middleweight Grand Prix
Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs Zelg Galesic
I like Jacare in the lock of the night.
Melvin Manhoef vs Gegard Mousasi
Too much beef. Manhoef in the end maybe goes the distance.
In the finals, I think its going to be Jacare vs Manhoef and I like Jacare to win the whole thing.
Main Card
Mirko CroCop vs Alistair Overeem
Too much experience against the top shelf. CroCop wins in some fashion, but I doubt its on the feet (I know surprising right?).
Kuniyoshi Hironaka vs Hayato “Mach” Sakurai
I’m probably most excited to see this fight. A toss up, but I will go with Mach.
Note: Intertops is not carrying odds for this event.

DREAM 5 Lightweight Grand Prix 2008 Final
Posted on 18. Jul, 2008 by moneybags.
Shinya Aoki vs Caol Uno
Shinya could have lost his first fight against JZ Calvalcante at the DREAM 5 opener, however, JZ elbowed the back of Aoki’s shoulder. It was a controversial stoppage and they had the rematch which Aoki won a close decision. Uno appears to be back on track with his last win over Ishida. A fight most people pegged him to lose. Uno could has a punchers chance here, but I’ll take the favorite and flashy Shinya Aoki.
Eddie Alvarez vs Tatsuya Kawajiri
I like the underdog Alvarez in this fight to TKO Kawajiri.
Now in this card the winners of their fights will then fight each other later that same night. If Aoki wins, I like Aoki to win the tournament. If Alvarez wins and Uno beats Aoki, I like Alvarez to win the tournament. If Kawajiri wins and Aoki wins, I like Aoki to win the tournament. If Kawajiri wins and Uno wins, I like Uno.
